Cardiff West MP, Kevin Brennan, has welcomed the news that Virgin Media is upgrading their broadband to ensure people in Cardiff who use their service will receive even faster speeds.
The new 152Mb top speed means people in Cardiff using Virgin Media will be download an entire TV show in one minute and allow households in Cardiff to connect even more devices online at the same time.
“I’ve been campaigning for a number of years to see Fibre Optic Broadband rolled out throughout Wales and I’m pleased to see Virgin is helping this become a reality,” said Cardiff West MP, Kevin Brennan.
“This will be an important service for many businesses and organisations throughout Cardiff West who heavily rely on the internet for their custom.
“As people rely on the internet more and more for their media services such as TV catch-up, film downloads and music streaming this will become a vital service for many.
“I fully welcome Virgin’s announcement and I look forward to seeing how it benefits the many business and people in my constituency.”
Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media’s chief executive officer, added: “Overwhelmingly people tell us the internet is a force for good. From daily life to the bigger aspects of society, culture and economic growth, digital is making a significant, positive difference to people’s lives.
"We’re supercharging our incredible network to ensure that Virgin Media customers in Cardiff West can make the most of the online world.”
